Could we have named this bed after any city other than L.A.?

We kept the design very tight to create a minimalist yet stylish look. The headboard with built in floating nightstands and shelves, the bed with recessed drawers below a low edge platform mattress frame, all contribute to creating a very calm chill ‘vibe’. This line looks great, but even more importantly it is incredibly practical: the mounted nightstands and underbed drawers means that every square inch of floor space is maximized. Also the low lip on the platform base holding the mattress, means that it is much easier to make the bed!

Available Woods

Maple

Maple has a generally more uniform appearance with large swirls and less tightly knit grain. It is suitable for contemporary interiors and smaller spaces as the grain of the wood is less visually distracting. It also requires more skill to work with as it is a fast growing wood and the tension in the wood can present challenges. The end result though is that Maple provides a beautiful finished look.

Rift Cut White Oak

Rift cut White Oak has a darker and browner undertone than the Red Oak, it is also a harder wood with a finer grain. Rift cut means that the lumber was cut from the centre part of the tree where the grain is the straightest and finest. This means a lower yield which in turn makes this a more expensive wood. Most often seen with a lighter stain or white wash, this wood is a designer favourite.

Muse

Muse, noun Definition: a source of inspiration

This is a ‘collection’ only in the sense that they are currently singular expressions which draw their inspiration from many sources. It is primarily a way for us to interpret some of what we have seen and experienced from our travels, into our furniture.

Interpretative Furniture may have been a better name for this grouping!

Many of these pieces are one-offs and may not grow into full furniture lines, but for us they are fun to design. Though each piece is functional and practical, they more engage our sense of whimsy and allow for greater artistic expression than designs which can be translated for the whole home.For the moment we have been playing with cities we have been to as our inspiration. Whether from something really cool that we saw in a bedroom the floating headboard with built in nightstand in LA, or the organic forms used by Gaudi in the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona to the compact Paris living spaces and the need for maximum functionality.We hope that you enjoy the Muse collection as much as we did in designing the pieces.
