Important Info
Please be advised that these finishes are an approximate representation only, as colours seen on the web are rarely 100% true, and different monitors will display colours differently.
Matching stain colours
If you are trying to match an existing piece, please keep in mind that over time wood furniture will change in colour. Lighter stains will often darken a few shades and exposure to bright light may fade some darker tones. Also please keep in mind that different manufacturers may use a stain with the same name, but they are not necessarily identical. In addition, each manufacturer has their own way of applying stain. Just as there are hundreds of shades of white paint, there are just as many permutations of an Espresso stain.
Factors which impact stain colours
Different types of wood even different batches of the same type of wood will take stains differently and even a single piece of wood will not absorb stain uniformly. This is due to the fact that every tree and resulting plank of wood will have a unique grain pattern with different curves, knots or mineral streaks as a result of the individual growing conditions. These small quirks or so called imperfections are what cannot be manufactured, they are the influences of nature that make solid wood instantly recognizable and sought after.
As a result, these pictures can only be an approximation and not exact.

Just look at it, does this not epitomize Swedish styling? Swedish doesn’t have to mean flat packed furniture with an Allen key construction. Our interpretation: clean, light, functional and visually pleasing, done in solid wood for a true reflection of the well-made, reliable and stylish ethos of Stockholm.
Available Woods
Maple
Cherry
The colour of this wood will naturally deepen with age and exposure. A fine uniform grain with a smooth texture are its characteristics. Often the lumber will have small flecks and gum pockets which add to the visual interest of this hardwood.
Wormy Maple
This Maple is recognizable by its distinctive character of bluish tinged streaking and pinholes which lend a rustic look. The markings are a result of the Ambrosia beetle which bores its way through the trees leaving the wood with the markings. The structural hardness and integrity of the wood is unaffected; it is solely a visual result.
Oak
Often thought to be the hardest of the woods, it is in fact softer than the denser Maple varietal. Oak is predictable to work with. When it’s cut, it doesn’t twist or split, and there is less wastage. Oak is slower growing, so there is less tension in the wood. Oak furniture is often known for it`s very traditional furniture, such as Mission or Shaker styles, and Quarter Sawn.

Muse
Muse, noun Definition: a source of inspiration
This is a ‘collection’ only in the sense that they are currently singular expressions which draw their inspiration from many sources. It is primarily a way for us to interpret some of what we have seen and experienced from our travels, into our furniture.
Interpretative Furniture may have been a better name for this grouping!
Many of these pieces are one-offs and may not grow into full furniture lines, but for us they are fun to design. Though each piece is functional and practical, they more engage our sense of whimsy and allow for greater artistic expression than designs which can be translated for the whole home. For the moment we have been playing with cities we have been to as our inspiration. Whether from something really cool that we saw in a bedroom the floating headboard with built in nightstand in LA, or the organic forms used by Gaudi in the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona to the compact Paris living spaces and the need for maximum functionality. We hope that you enjoy the Muse collection as much as we did in designing the pieces. There is more to come!
