Maple

Maple has a generally more uniform appearance with large swirls and less tightly knit grain. It is suitable for contemporary interiors and smaller spaces as the grain of the wood is less visually distracting. It also requires more skill to work with as it is a fast growing wood and the tension in the wood can present challenges. The end result though is that Maple provides a beautiful finished look.

Rift Cut White Oak

Rift cut White Oak has a darker and browner undertone than the Red Oak, it is also a harder wood with a finer grain. Rift cut means that the lumber was cut from the centre part of the tree where the grain is the straightest and finest. This means a lower yield which in turn makes this a more expensive wood. Most often seen with a lighter stain or white wash, this wood is a designer favourite.

Wormy Maple

This Maple is recognizable by its distinctive character of bluish tinged streaking and pinholes which lend a rustic look. The markings are a result of the Ambrosia beetle which bores its way through the trees leaving the wood with the markings. The structural hardness and integrity of the wood is unaffected; it is solely a visual result.

This contemporary hand crafted collection with strong clean lines is one of our exclusive in house designs. Locally made of solid Maple with a choice of 14 different stains, there are pieces for your whole home: Dining Room, Living Room and Bedroom. An optional rift cut white oak is also now available. All dimensions shown are within 1/4″ due to the seasonal effects on wood and the nature of handmade furniture.

One of the design features of this line is that all tops are 5/4″ thick solid maple. All drawers are made from solid wood, using dovetail joints, and have full extension slides which enable the drawer to be pulled out completely. Built to order, this line can be fully customized to suit your needs.

The dining table is a solid top design with the option of plug leaves for when you are entertaining. There are 9 standard dining table sizes to choose from, in addition we can build the Boxwood table to any size, and even counter or pub height. The matching server comes in 8 standard sizes, with many options to help personalize the pieces to your needs.

To maximize storage, the Boxwood bed is available with under bed storage drawers, or if you prefer, without drawers for a lighter look.
